Insights
Insights shows the answers to one question at a time: how many buyers gave each answer, and what those orders were worth.
Pick a question and a date range
Choose the question at the top, then a Date range: last 7 days, last 30 days, last 90 days, last 12 months or all time. Each range ends today. Days follow UTC time.
What each column means
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Answers | How many times buyers gave this answer in the range. |
| Share | This answer’s part of all the answers shown. |
| Revenue | The total of the orders that gave this answer, in your store currency. |
| AOV | Average order value: revenue divided by the number of those orders. |
| vs. previous | The change in answers against the period of the same length just before. |
- Revenue and AOV use the order total from Shopify. They show when at least 3 of the orders have a total.
- For a multiple-choice question, one order can count for more than one answer.
- Rating questions also show the average. NPS questions show the NPS score: the percentage of 9s and 10s minus the percentage of 0s to 6s.
- Answers per week shows the last 12 weeks.
- New answers show in Insights straight away.
Small groups are hidden
An answer that fewer than 3 buyers gave is never shown on its own. This stops one buyer from standing out, for example the only buyer who picked “Podcast” last week.
- Small answers are added together into one row: Small groups (fewer than 3 answers each).
- If that row also has fewer than 3 answers, it is left out.
- The total counts only the rows that show, so a hidden answer cannot be worked out by subtraction.
- In Answers per week, a week with 1 or 2 answers shows no number.
This is why a single test answer does not appear. It shows once 3 buyers give the same answer.
Written answers
Insights counts written answers as “Written answer”. The text is deleted at the end of your retention period, and the count stays. See Privacy and data.
Coming soon: themes for written answers, such as “shipping cost” or “sizing”, with a count for each. Ask AI and a weekly insights email are also coming.
Exports
In the Export section of Insights, click Export answers or Export daily totals to download a CSV file:
| Export | What it contains |
|---|---|
Answerspost-purchase-answers-YYYY-MM-DD.csv |
One row for each answer the app still keeps: the time (UTC), the order ID, a link to the order in Shopify, the question, the answer, the written answer (scrubbed), the order total and the currency. |
Daily totalspost-purchase-totals-YYYY-MM-DD.csv |
All your history: for each day and answer, the number of answers, the orders with a total, and the revenue. |
- The answers export only has answers from within your retention period. Older answers exist only as daily totals.
- Answers that are hidden because of your plan’s limit are not exported.
- Exports never contain buyers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses.
- The small-group rule does not apply to the answers export: it lists each answer with its order ID. Keep the file safe, and delete it when you no longer need it.
- The download link works for 15 minutes. After that, the file is deleted.
- Each export is recorded under Access log on the Privacy and plan page, as “Answers exported” or “Daily totals exported”, newest first.
Finding the buyer behind an answer
The app keeps the order number, not the buyer’s details. To contact a buyer, open the order in Shopify. If the option has an order tag, you can filter your orders by that tag.
